Now, the Taliban is patrolling Kabul in American Humvees and killing Afghans with U.S. weapons.
Over the past year pieces of U.S. military equipment like fingerprint scanners have been cropping up for sale on e-Bay, many of which still have personal information pertaining to the people they were used to identify. And now this week, U.S. weapons that were left behind in Afghanistan have begun popping up in Indian-controlled Kashmir.
According to the Daily Mail former Green Beret, Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL), vowed on Monday to hold the Biden administration accountable for the consequences of its chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021.
Authorities in Indian-controlled Kashmir have alleged that militants with ties to Pakistan have been seen with M4s, M16s, and other American weapons that have rarely been seen before during the decades-long conflict.
Waltz told the Daily Mail, "House Republicans warned this would happen yet there was zero oversight or investigation into Biden's disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan under Nancy Pelosi."
"Rest assured, we will be holding hearings and looking into the consequences of leaving so much miitary equipment behind," Waltz concluded.
In addition to arming the Taliban, last year it was discovered that $1 billion in aid given to Afghanistan by the Biden administration after the Taliban takeover could not be accounted for. It shoud be no surprise then that U.S. arms left in Taliban hands are finding their way to other conflicts around the world.
