Several new polls released over the weekend indicate that while congressional midterm elections will be close, Republicans appear to be favored - hopefully enough to take back control of the House and Senate.

The New York Times/Siena College poll, which was taken between October 9 and 12, shows Republicans favored by 4 points.

The Rasmussen Reports poll, taken from October 9 to 13, is showing that Republicans are favored by 7 points.

The Trafalgar Group poll taken from October 10-12 shows Republicans pulling ahead by 5 points.

The Harvard/Harris poll , which was taken between October 12 and 13 indicates that Republicans are favored by 6 points.

Lastly, the CBS News/YouGov poll, taken from October 12 to 14, shows Republicans favored by only 2 points.

In order to take back the majority in House and unseat Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) as speaker of the House, Republicans need to gain five seats.

While Republicans managed to hold onto the Senate until 2020, it is currently split equally between the two parties. Vice President Kamala Harris is the tie-breaking vote for Senate Democrats. Senate Republicans need to add a minimum of one seat to take back the majority in the Senate.

With Joe Biden considering running for a second term in the 2024 presidential election, it is critical for Republicans to regain a majority in both the Senate and the House. While the midterm election is set to be close, the polls are indicating that Republicans have building momentum going into November.
