Trump To Block Downloads Of TikTok, WeChat On Sunday

U.S. President Donald Trump will ban downloads of WeChat and TikTok on Sunday over concerns about national security. The status of the ByteDance - Oracle 'deal' is still unclear at this time.

“At the President’s direction, we have taken significant action to combat China’s malicious collection of American citizens’ personal data, while promoting our national values, democratic rules-based norms, and aggressive enforcement of U.S. laws and regulations.” Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said in a statement Friday.

Friday’s announcement from the Commerce Department is an enforcement of Trump’s original executive order from August 6 that gave TikTok 45 days to sell its U.S. business to a U.S. company or face a ban in the U.S.

"The Chinese Communist Party CCP has demonstrated the means and motives to use these apps to threaten the national security, foreign policy, and the economy of the U.S," the Department of Commerce said in a statement to the press.

"Today’s actions prove once again that President Trump will do everything in his power to guarantee our national security and protect Americans from the threats of the Chinese Communist Party."

It looks like POTUS is pressuring Beijing to sell the company and relinquish control.

However reports are Trump is delaying a 'final ban' until Nov 12 to give both sides more time to hammer out a deal, reported Zero Hedge.
