Russian President Vladimir Putin invited U.S. President Donald Trump to attend the annual Victory Day Parade held in Moscow’s Red Square to celebrate Russia’s victory over Nazi Germany in WWII, or the Great Patriotic War as it is called in the former Soviet territories.

The Kremlin declared Trump ‘reacted positively’ to the invitation.

“We invited the US president to attend the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War on May 9 next year. The US president reacted very positively,” Kremlin Aide Yuri Ushakov told Rossiya 24 news channel on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Osaka, reported Russian state news agency TASS.

“In light of that, the two sides discussed each country’s losses during the war (WWII – TASS), and whose role was decisive. They also highlighted the Soviet people’s contribution to that victory,” Ushakov explained.

The meeting between Trump and Putin lasted for 80 minutes on the sidelines of the G20.

“It is true, as it was said before, [Russian President Vladimir] Putin invited Trump to [attend] the 75th anniversary of the ending of World War II <…> next year,” the Kremlin spokesman said. According to him, “Trump was positive [about the invitation] and said that he would be expecting an official invitation,” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

I thought it odd that the Russian’s were not invited to the D-Day ceremonies.
They were, after all, fighting gallant battles with Germany on the Eastern front at that very moment we landed on Omaha beach.
Battles that cost themselves some 20, 000,000 killed.
I thought it was petty, but I understand that any friendly hand towards the Russians these days will be met with accusations of collusion, and any Republican must be careful of what the Democrat’s, and their main stream media arm, can grasp onto in their continuing efforts to rid themselves of President Trump, before he makes their party a notation in history, which he most certainly will, after this next election.

I see President Putin is the bigger man. Being snubbed by the western nations in their celebrations of June 6th, he has chosen to extend to the US President an invitation to the Victory Day Parade next May. Now the important thing is for President Trump to accept. Time to let the Cold War be part of history. Between the US and Russia they can accomplish great things.
