Baltic Nations Positively Giddy About Trump Moving US Troops To Poland

U.S. President Donald Trump has withdrawn approximately 9,500 American military troops from Germany and may reassign them to the Central European nation of Poland, a NATO ally. The Polish government has been lobbying for this for some time, even going to the extreme of offering to name any future U.S. base in Poland — Fort Trump.

Nations that have been invaded in the near past have long memories. Poland was conquered by Nazi Germany, and then suffered under the Warsaw Pact for decades behind the Iron Curtain.

The former Soviet republics of the Baltics also have long memories under the Soviet boot, and are considered vulnerable to any Russia aggression in the region, with the likelihood that American forces would not arrive soon enough to ensure their safety.

For this reason, the Baltic governments have been vocal about their pleasure at the thought of Trump sending permanent forces to Poland.

The possible deployment of more US troops to Poland will serve the security interests of the entire region, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda said on Wednesday, reported The Baltic Times.

“That possible reassignment of troops will have to do not only with Poland’s specific security interests, but also with the security interests of the region as a whole,” Nauseda told reporters in Grunwald after meeting with his Polish counterpart, Andrzej Duda.

According to Nauseda, Lithuania actively cooperates with Poland on security matters, especially to ensure the security of the so-called Suwalki gap, is a land strip of around 100 kilometers on the Lithuanian-Polish border that is wedged between the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad on the west and Belarus on the east.

“We have been working closely with the Polish side to ensure that regional security aspects and aspects of the Suwalki corridor are included in this discussion and that they are taken into account,” he told reporters.

Historical Correction:
Poland was invaded and conquered BOTH by the Russians and the Germans in 1939.
[distinctions between Russians vs Soviets and Germans vs Nazis is useless pedantry, IMO]
[If Nazi Germany, then Communist Russia]

It was the mistake of arrogance on the part of the US, and sentimentalism by the Europeans, to allow the Baltic States into NATO.
When push comes to shove, NATO cannot defend the Baltic States.
NATO does not have the wherewithal–500,000 troops in Poland, to make the Russians blink.
NATO would only be reacting to a Fait Accompli and that is not a good motivator to start WWIII.
Putin, and I assume most Russians, want their empire back.
It is going to be a source of contention until the EU & US implode.
The US is clearly in an unstable state, and I believe it will get worse.
The EU’s time will come when the Muslims in Europe decide to make a power grab.
What the Russians do then won’t matter.
The West Europeans will beg for Russian assistance.
Eastern Europe will become the center of a rump Christian Civilization.

Don’t count out the USA any time soon. That nation remains the richest, most powerful nation on the planet, and will for some time to come.

Trump will win reelection and then during his second term (lame duck term, so no worries about political fallout) move decisively to rein in the troublemakers. The wealth of natural resources located within the North American continent will remain; the industrial capacity of the United States and Canada (Yes, for all practical purposes during any world crisis Canada is little more than an extension of the United States.) will remain; and whatever government sits in Washington DC will act to preserve American power and influence. Note that the USSR collapsed overnight, and the resurgent Russia is yet no powerhouse.

It is China that all of Western Civilization must worry about. It would serve Russia, America, Eastern Europe, and Europe well to remember China and its intentions and work together to preserve Western Civilization.

Sycophantic Poland is no more than a pitiful pawn on the chess board of the superpowers. They were used to destroy Germany by furnishing the ¨reason¨ for WW2 and they are on the chopping block again with heir stupid pandering to the USA. Frankly whatever happens to them is of no consequence. All they are is a giant german cementary. Any country which exists on largely stolen territory and lives off the largesse of the blackmailed Germans isn,t worthy of consieration.
