The governments of Greece and Italy have decided to further curtail COVID-related restrictions starting June.

After removing border restrictions and green pas requirements earlier this year, Greece has agreed to do the same with masking requirements in public spaces.

Starting June 1, residents will need to wear masks only in public transport, hospitals, and hospice care. In line with the European Union’s guidelines, masks will no longer be required at airports and during flights.

Meanwhile, Italy has lifted all COVID-related entry requirements after several years of strict border policies. Beginning on Wednesday, those entering Italy will no longer have to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test.

Albania and North Macedonia implemented similar policies ahead of the tourist season which begins in earnest in June.
