The head of Russia’s space agency Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, has been dismissed by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Kremlin declared the dismissal was not for cause, and Rogozin will be given a plum position. Many are speculating he will be given the job of overseeing new Russian territory in Donbass, East Ukraine.

“Dmitry Rogozin is hereby released from his position as director general of the Roscosmos state space corporation. The decree comes into effect on the day of its signing,” the document reads, reported Russian state news agency TASS.

Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov did not provide any details but said his departure from the space agency did not mean the Kremlin was unhappy with his work there, wrote The Moscow Times.

One independent media outlet said he would be promoted and could be put in charge of occupied territories in Ukraine.

At Roscosmos, Rogozin was replaced by Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov, who has a military background.
