U.S. Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) introduced a mandate in the Senate that forces the House and Speaker Pelosi to deliver the articles of impeachment within 25 days. Sen. Hawley, who serves on the Senate Judiciary Committee, tells Fox & Friends, “We need to change the Senate rules to allow the Senate to dismiss this case if she refuses to send the articles over.”

On Thursday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell joined the growing support for Hawley's motion and signed onto the resolution.

It has been over three weeks since the House of Representatives voted in favor of two articles of impeachment and have yet to formally notify the Senate. This is the only time in the history of the U.S. that impeachment articles have been deliberately withheld so Hawley’s measure is hard to argue against with no precedent.

Senators Mike Braun and Steve Daines threw their support behind the measure, penning a FOX News op-ed where they tell Speaker Pelosi: Send it or end it.

“House Democrats and Speaker Pelosi have zero say in how the Senate conducts its trial. Whether the speaker wants to prevent the trial indefinitely or just until House Democrats can salvage sinking public support for this partisan process is irrelevant.

If Democrats are afraid to try their case, the articles should be dismissed for failure to prosecute.”

Sen. Hawley has received an outpouring of support for his motion, which has been introduced as an update to Senate impeachment rules. Consequently, not only could President Trump’s sham impeachment be dismissed in a matter of days, but the measure could ensure that the desperate strategy of using impeachment as a partisan political maneuver won’t be repeated in the future.
