Trump Goes After Bloomberg On Twitter

Two New York billionaires turned politicians are not afraid to throw insults, and President Trump made sure to be the first as he attacked former presidential nominee Mike Bloomberg on Twitter.

Bloomberg, who ran for the Democrat nomination, had to suspend his campaign after poor numbers on Super Tuesday. But the former primary candidate is continuing his involvement in politics, and promised to shell out $100 million to the Biden campaign for their Florida efforts. Florida, a swing-state, is one of the most important state to win on election night.

And Trump knows this. On Twitter, Trump said, "Mini Mike Bloomberg, after making a total fool of himself as he got badly beaten up by Pocahontas and the Democrats in the Primaries, is at it again. He tried to buy an Election and went away with a major case of Depressions. Now he's throwing money at the Dems, looking for a job!"

Bloomberg, however, was quick on the defense. He responded to Trump on Twitter, "The only one who will be looking for a new job next year is you."

Bloomberg made Democrat hopefuls nervous when he joined the race, throwing a billion at his campaign efforts and massively outspending his opponents. And now, Bloomberg is trying his same tactic for Biden. Bloomberg gave $5.4 million to Priorities USA, who will use the money to buy a week of ads for broadcast television in Florida.

Why this matters: It's hard for campaigns to raise the money they need for the final push in the election cycle. That is why President Trump said he would spend his own money, with no limited amount, on his campaign if needed. Biden doesn't have the same luxury of being a billionaire, but has already outraised Trump's campaign in August. With Biden's help in such a key battleground state, the race will become increasingly more competitive, and both candidates will have to spend more time campaigning there in the next few weeks.
