Russian President Vladimir Putin has proposed changes to the Russian constitution which will enshrine traditional values regarding marriage and homosexuality.
Russian has had a ‘gay propaganda’ law for years, which prohibits teaching ‘non-traditional lifestyles’ to minors.
The amendments enshrine the mention of Russians’ “faith in God” and also stipulate that marriage is a heterosexual union, said Deputy Speaker Pyotr Tolstoy.
The new amendments also ban giving away Russian territory and any call promoting such a move would also be outlawed, reported The Moscow Times.
“I believe that most of the proposals that have been discussed have been taken into account,” he added.
The territory measure seems to be aimed at preventing the return of Crimea to Ukraine, or the Kuril Islands to Japan.
