Will the Neo-Ottoman Empire (Turkey) pull the West into a war with its historical nemesis, Russia? As eyes have been glued to trading screens and coronavirus counts, the world is moving closer to a major war in the Middle East.
Russia today moved a fourth ship into the Mediterranean to complement the three vessels already in theater which can strike the Syrian territory with Kalibr cruise missiles.
The large landing ship Novocherkassk was photographed crossing Turkey’s busy Bosphorus strait days after Russia sent two warships equipped with Kalibr cruise missiles toward the Syrian coast. A third frigate has been in the Mediterranean since December, reported The Moscow Times.
The crisis comes as Turkey launched a military excursion into Northern Syria in late February to root out Assad’s Shia Islamic forces along its border. Ankara has shot down multiple Syrian aircraft as scores of Turkish soldiers have been killed by Syrian airstrikes. Russia is supporting the Assad regime militarily of course. Turkey has also struck Syrian airfields.
Turkey is a NATO ally and could invoke Article 5 for NATO help in the conflict if it is attacked, drawing the West into a war with Russia.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Erdogan are to meet later this week in an attempt to resolve tensions.
“We hope that we will be able to minimize the risk as the two countries’ militaries maintain close contacts and dialogue,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in response to a question about the possibility of an armed confrontation between Russian and Turkish forces in Idlib, reported Russian state news agency TASS.

Russia and Syria should not take this. Erdogan has started a war with Syria.
Syria should STOP BEING DEFENSIVE AND ATTACK ERDOGAN PERSONALLY.
Syria should attack with a special operation to KILL ERDOGAN.
Cut the head off the snake.
This is best for Syria, Russia, and Turkish citizens and military, and NATO.
With Erdogan gone. Peace will occur.
