According to the Colorado State University's (CSU) own website, the university was awarded, during the Covid-19 Pandemic in 2021, a $6.7 million dollar award from the National Institute of Health (NIH) to build a new facility (bat lab). In the article, Greg Ebel, a CSU professor in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Pathology and director of the Center for Vector-borne Infectious Diseases at CSU states, "This award will dramatically increase our ability to study the role of bats in disease transmission and help us become even stronger in researching emerging zoonotic pathogens".

In the article, CSU's Biosafety Director Rebecca Moritz said the priorities in designing the facility and a bat research program will be the safety and security of the research and the creation of specialized training for caretakers and scientists. The bat lab project is planned to be completed by 2025.

I spoke to Pam Long from Colorado and key member of Children's Health Defense. She has been closely following and reporting on the CSU bat lab story. She reported, this Larimer County Planning Commission approved project, has met with area resident concern of a lab leak and possible gain-of-function research. Area residents are familiar with COVID reported origins with the FBI, the Congress, the Department of Energy, and even the government official responsible for Project Warp Speed having already assessed the proximate origins of the Covid-19 pandemic most likely emerged from a Wuhan Institute of Virology lab leak. Residents have made their voices heard to Larimer County officials and Colorado State University. Both Larimer County and CSU have largely refused to answer questions or cooperate with public concerns.

According to Becker Hospital Review, as of November 16th only 14% of adults or only 35 million Americans have taken the updated Covid-19 injections. While the health industry may tout this number, Americans are likely both fatigued and much smarter about what happened during the Covid-19 Pandemic. The public knows: the masks and shots never worked. So what's the real need going forward? What is the vital need to place a controversial bat lab in the heart of Colorado and the United States? Why choose a highly recognized CSU veterinary university program location where lab leaks have previously have happened (reference just one CSU lab leak)? What are the immediate and long-term needs to locate controversial research facilities right here in the USA?

The public has a right to ask questions of local and university officials and to contest the facility. We were told to trust the science during the Pandemic. But now we know there were concerns about the science. Every American wants to know why we have to keep manipulating viruses? What about gain-of-function research? Is a bat lab really necessary? It makes no sense. We have endured the last 3+ years of ever-changing Covid-19 policy and procedure. Consider contacting the NIH, Colorado's Larimer County Health, Colorado State University and your government representatives to ask questions and express your opinion. This is more than NIMBY (Not in my backyard), maybe never. Make your opinions known to lawmakers and policymakers.
