An audio recording of the call between State Police and harbor authorities on Tuesday, March 27 has been released showing the moments prior to and after the horrific collapse of the Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland. It's clear that no one was sure if there was a crew on the bridge or not.

The audio revealed the crew of the Dali had contacted authorities prior to the accident and that crews who were stopping traffic on the south side of the bridge were told to stop traffic. The recording seems to indicate that authorities had stopped traffic coming onto the bridge but didn't know until it was too late to save the men working on the bridge. One of the men on the audio is unsure if there is a crew on the bridge. He says they may want to contact the foreman and let him know to get his crew off the bridge temporarily. Another says he will ride up there to pick up the crew after he has someone to take his place stopping traffic. Immediately, a voice announces that the "whole bridge just collapsed."

"The whole bridge just fell down. Start, start whoever … everybody. The whole bridge just collapsed," a person says on the radio.

“Do we know what traffic was stopped?” another person said.

“I can’t get to the other side, sir. The bridge is down," another person responded.

The heartbreaking part is that during that exchange, six members of the eight-person crew on the bridge lost their lives as the bridge plunged into the Patapsco River.
