Imagine that.

In the chaos of a pandemic, Bill Gates has managed to insert himself into the sphere of public education. Today, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that his administration would team with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to "reimagine education" for the children of the state hardest hit by COVID-19.

This is but one of a series of recent power-hungry maneuvers by Gates. In a destabilizing outbreak that appears increasingly to have been authored by Gates and his global organization supplicants--accidentally or intentionally--he also wants to sell us his vaccine.

Now, it appears he wants to control the educational narrative as well.

This is an old stratagem: he who controls the schools is able to influence the minds of the burgeoning body politic. To the victor go the spoils, and one of the spoils is controlling the historical narrative from Kindergarten to 12th grade.

That's all fine and well if the victor is an elected official, chosen by the people. But no one elected Bill Gates. Why is Cuomo ceding so much power to a technocrat?

"When we are reopening schools, let's open a better school, and let's open a smarter education system. ... Bill Gates is a visionary in many ways, and his ideas and thoughts on technology and education he's spoken about for years, but I think we now have a moment in history where we can actually incorporate and advance those ideas."

..."We've all been talking about tele-education, virtual education, remote education, and there's a lot that can be done" he said. "The old model of everybody goes and sits in a classroom and the teacher is in front of that classroom and teaches that class, and you do that all across the city, all across the state, all these buildings, all these physical classrooms. Why, with all the technology you have?"

And so we receive a glimpse of the Gates variation. His reach isn't simply for narrative control, but a reshaping of how and where children learn. Be it "tele-education, virtual education, remote education", these are all rejections of the classroom. Of the school. Of the in loco parentis role schools have served since the founding of our nation.

One role that model has faithfully served is to let we the people--the adults--get on with our lives, to pursue our interests while our children begin the process of growing up among peers, the early stages of individuation.

The past several weeks have perhaps provided a preview of a globalist world: families are the children. The home is the school. And the government is the parent. If allowed to shape aspects of American life, from the disease to the vaccine, from the software to virus protection--and now to how and where our children learn--Gates will become the single most important force in our daily lives.

I'll leave you with a song. John Lennon's "Imagine" is already a globalist anthem. Here it is "reimagined" as though Bill Gates might have written it.
