To understand the dull acceptance of machine politics that exclude anything other than one view, you have to live in New York. It’s the home of every dystopian dream before it flies on a chartered jet to California. The biggest story in America caught nearly everyone on both sides of the political aisle completely off guard.  It shouldn’t have; never underestimate New York City.  Especially those still living here that didn’t move to Florida.

Ground zero of Democrat lunacy, New York City and New York State went to a paler shade of blue. Republicans won the House and Americans can thank NEW YORK for that as well as ending the Pelosi reign.

Gotham over-performed in the November 8th, 2022 election; Republican turnout went up 62% and Democrat turnout went down 30.7% compared to 2018. Outside of New York City, Republican turnout went up 14% and turnout for Democrats went down 8.6%.  Zeldin got 514,000 votes in New York City, 200,000 more than former Republican gubernatorial candidate Marc Molinaro in 2018.  Hochul’s raw vote total was half a million less than Cuomo’s in 2018.  While newly elected New Democrat Governor Hochul won with 2,957,602 votes, Republican Zeldin came close, securing 2,666,065 total votes.  Republicans lost the Sate House but they picked up four more seats in the House of Representatives.  This is almost otherworldly in this particular state.

This is the big picture; Republican principles are attractive and have made gains with multiple groups.  Asians, hispanics, blacks, and Jews came out in numbers never before seen.  They’ve had it with rampant crime caused by cashless bail and defunded and demoralized police.  Moms, Democrat moms, came out in force to vote Republican, disgusted with the Left’s wrecking ball to education, attack on parental rights, and mandates.  The “shelter dumping” and drug sales and public consumption have nauseated all the aforementioned groups.

While Zeldin was the face of change, so many separate factions worked to ensure Republican turnout and are responsible for the large picture wins that not only will impact New York City and New York State, but America.  City Councilwoman Inna Vernikov was indispensable in galvanizing Brooklyn’s Hasidic Jewish community that came out in droves to repudiate the vicious anti semitism via hate crimes and education the Left’s policies have wrought.  Superpacs were created by real estate and business tycoons ensuring Zeldin wasn’t at a financial disadvantage against the Democrat machine funding Hochul and radicals. Community leaders, Democrat District Leaders, and independent clubs worked independently with the same goal in mind, to save New York.

Manhattan GOP Chairwoman AJ Catsimatidis says of the gains, “I knew from talking to voters on the streets while campaigning with our candidates that the Republican Party was surging in Manhattan. This election, our county delivered double our party’s registration in votes for Zeldin, which is an incredibly drastic shift.  We saw an even more bigger shift with our local Manhattan candidates.  For example, Helen Qiu running for AD65 received almost three times her district’s registration in votes.”  As to why, the Chairwoman believes two factors made the difference; “the crime rate and grassroots organization. Every first time Republican voter I spoke to on the street cited NYC’s high crime rate as the reason for their change in support. That being said, I also saw a discrepancy in the magnitude of gains based on which campaigns had better grassroots organization, which indicates that running good candidates and campaigns also made an impact. We have been running incredible candidates in seats across Manhattan that were previously uncontested, our grassroots activity is starting to pay major dividends.worked tirelessly to help endorsed candidates, all of which received a higher amount of votes versus the previous election.”

The next elections in New York City are for City Council.  Provided Republican candidates steer clear of social issues and focus on two or three solid line items, crime, economy, and the bridge issue, education, uniting the mighty voting bloc of moms, gains will continue.
