Video: 20,000+ Protest In Moscow For Free Elections

Muscovites gathered again in the tens of thousands on Saturday to demand free elections. Citizens were upset over opposition candidates being forced off the ballot for city elections in September. The Moscow Times stated the demonstration is the largest in recent years.

The Kremlin has cracked down on independent media and political figures. Opposition candidate Alexei Navalny has been jailed repeatedly and kept off the ballot for the recent presidential contest which saw Vladimir Putin elected for a fourth term.

Rumors are flying over the Kremlin’s circuitous attempts to engineer a fifth term for the Russian president. The population is growing increasing upset over difficult economic conditions, primarily caused by Western sanctions.
