The Democrats have continued to use the coronavirus as their main driver in the 2020 election, and today President Trump calmed them out for it. The latest scene in the drama is from Bob Woodward’s upcoming book, ‘Rage,’ where he says Trump knew the severity of the virus, but downplayed it to the American people. Trump however, has pointed out the timing of the release of his remarks, and that Woodward reported them accurately. If there was something more serious about what he said, he would have reported it earlier.

In a tweet, Trump wrote, “Bob Woodward had my quotes for many months. If he thought they were so bad or dangerous, why didn’t he immediately report them in an effort to save lives? Didn’t he have an obligation to do so? No, because he knew they were good and proper answers. Calm, no panic!”

Trump is stating that as America started to prepare for a lockdown with no end in sight, if their leader was flustered, it would have just added to the national mood in a negative way. Social media users have been quick to point out that even if these remarks were leaked at an earlier time, nothing would have changed in how the administration responded to the virus.

But for Biden, this is the ammunition he needs. After the announcement of Kamala Harris, his message has been failing to come through in the news cycle, and he Democrats have been quick to stall any additional funding that doesn’t meet their extremely high price tag. So for the Biden-Harris ticket, they need some talking points.

And that is why the mainstream media has been so quick to jump onto Woodward’s book, especially because he has tapes and had Trump on the record- stark contrast to the other articles circulating the internet The “alleged” reports from “insiders” goes a further way for their narrative, and since the release, Biden has been on the attack to accuse Trump of lying to the American people.

But Kayleigh McEnany told reporters on Wednesday that Trump in know way tried to mislead the public, and instead, wanted to help Americans stay calm. Trump echoed his press secretary, telling reporters, “The fact is, I’m a cheerleader for this country. I love our country, and I don’t want people to be frightened. I don’t want to create panic, as you say. And certainly, I’m not going to drive this country or the world into a frenzy.”

Excerpts of the book have been released the same week Senate Democrats blocked McConnell’s second coronavirus relief package from heading to the Senate floor, effectively killing the bill.
