The assassination of Hamas leader Haniyeh has put Iran in a box it desperately wants out of in the Middle East, as Israeli and American threats are taken seriously for retaliation.

Tehran is looking for a way to blunt any Western response, and even an Israeli pre-emptive attack, after the mullahs declared they would attack The Jewish State with thousands of rockets earlier this week. Turkey, Yemen and Syria were reported to be in possible coordination against Israel.

Enter the Russian Federation, stage left.

Foreign Ministers Sergey Lavrov of Russia and Ayman Safadi of Jordan have stressed the need for a ceasefire in the zone of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and called on all parties involved in it to show restraint to prevent catastrophic consequences for the entire region, the Russian foreign ministry said after their phone call, reported Russian state news agency TASS.

"The ministers exchanged views of the development of the military and political situation in the Middle East with a focus on the need for a ceasefire in the zone of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the soonest de-escalation in the region. They stressed that both Moscow and Amman call on all parties concerned to show restraint in order to prevent catastrophic consequences for the entire Middle East," it said.

Iran will use this Russian fig leaf as offramp from its own threats against Israel, in a bid to save face.

As we have reported before, the killing of a proxy army leader by a missile or bomb to his bedroom, has awoken the mullahs to the fact they may enjoy the same fate.

Russia, for its part, would love to be seen as the peace maker.

The world forgets Russia sent over two million Jews to Israel and a large percentage of The Jewish State is Russian. Russia also wants to prevent access of Israeli military technology to Ukraine.

Turkey has strong trade links with Russia, including tourism.

    Everybody wins.

    The Prisoner

This is intelligent coverage, I will be reading more.

Turkey controls access to the Black Sea through 2 narrow channels, as narrow as 0.4 miles. NATO's silly plans to escalate in Ukraine are in jeopardy since Turkey is opposing Israeli aggression.

Iran comes off as the peace maker by not retaliating for Israeli terror attacks. It appears that Iran is not taking the bait. Israel's bombing of the Iranian embassy in Syria was a terror attack.
