A first of many articles under the banner - IF WE WERE PRESIDENT series to expose the corporate kleptocracy and Washington’s political posturing. Is this the policy you want?

    ***************************************************

Joe Biden and the democrats’ immigration policy keeps surfacing as a major human trafficking issue in the 2024 presidential race.

Seemingly, they aim to wrap it in a humanitarian prism, but boiling underneath is a level of deep hypocrisy ultimately destroying lives because of destructive domestic and foreign policies.

Three members of Congress have re-introduced a bicameral piece of legislation last week that would restrict the detention of LGBT migrants, and other “vulnerable populations,” and it is gaining support in both the House and the Senate.

It had been introduced during the last 117th Congress.

The proposed legislation was re-introduced by Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) and Rep. Adam Smith (D-WA).

“The Dignity for Detained Immigrants Act would overhaul our immigration detention system by ending mandatory detention, promoting community-based alternatives, and ending the use of private, for-profit detention centers that have a shameful history of prioritizing their own profits over the civil and human rights of children and families,” said Congressman Smith in a press release.

The Dignity for Detained Immigrants Act would direct the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to restrict the number of detainees.

Several categories of illegal immigrants would be protected which include LGBT illegal immigrants, who would receive special legal protections, as well as those under the age of 21 or above 60, pregnant women, those with “limited English language proficiency,” and those seeking asylum.

If the bill becomes law, border officials would have 48 hours to determine whether or not to detain an illegal alien, and only then under limited circumstances.

The DHS then would use the “least restrictive conditions” and guarantee a custody hearing within three days. These hearings would include a “presumption that the alien should be released.”

The bill would terminate privately-owned detention facilities.

The current immigration system “allowed for the unjust treatment of immigrants and stripped them of their humanity and due process,” stated Senator Booker.

Many Republicans have been very upset with DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas over policies they believe encourage unaccompanied minors to cross the border.

The number of migrants crossing the southern border reached record highs last year. Last May 2022 saw the highest number of encounters between the Border Patrol and migrants, at 224,370.

As earlier report by CDM, tens of thousand of unaccompanied minors have gone missing since the beginning of Biden’s presidency.

The obvious question arising is what is the model to move the immigrants crossing the border.

Former presidents Carter, Clinton, Bush and Obama and their wives are leading a movement to move migrants and refugees across America, and although it sounds gloriously wrapped in ethics and a humane policy, when you dig deeper it seems like a political movement for failed domestic and foreign policies.

Welcome.us was created in 2021 following the disastrous pullout from Afghanistan and has subsequently bled into taking care of Ukrainian refugees after the U.S. government has to date given $113 billion to Ukrainians and now, Welcome has expanded to those crossing the U.S. borders.

The model appears to be yet another public private partnership instead of going upstream to right the wrongs created by failed policies.

Welcome’s Chief Executive Officer Nazanin Ashis previously worked in the US Department of State in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs leading the Middle East Partnership Initiative and at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on international development and HIV/AIDS.

The Welcome.us CEO Council looks like a database of political donors and lobbyists on K Street in Washington, D.C. Basically, those who profit from opening up their wallets for access and recognition and awarded government contracts and partnerships on Capitol Hill and across the federal government.

Welcomes’ CEO Council https://welcome.us/ceo-council include: Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Kathleen McCarthy at Blackstone, David Solomon at Goldman Sachs, Sheryl Sandberg at Meta, Pfizer’s CEO Albert Bourla, United Airlines’ CEO Scott Kirby, Brian Murphy at Comcast NBC Universal, Anthony Capuano with Marriott International, Doug McMillan at Walmart and others.

These are many companies which took up the Biden administration’s mantle on covid and censorship policies and donated to campaigns.

“The launch of the Welcome.US CEO Council comes amid one of the largest refugee crises of this century, with over 4.2 million Ukrainians fleeing for safety across Europe—a number the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees expects will increase as the conflict continues.,” states the website.

“The United States recently announced that more than 100,000 Ukrainians will be allowed to seek refuge in the country, which follows more than 75,000 Afghan newcomers already being resettled in American communities—seven times the number of refugees resettled in the United States in 2020,” further reads the website.

“Building on the collective efforts of resettlement agencies, frontline organizations, faith-based institutions, and Americans across the country, the Welcome.US CEO Council will help marshal resources from the private sector to provide newcomers with access to critical goods and services, quality jobs, and mentorship opportunities,” adds their website.

And, if you cross-reference the Co-Chairs - think Uniparty leaders and the CEO Council - think K Street lobbyists - and the states and cities who are partners with Welcome, the full picture emerges how Washington works. There is clearly a political divide in the states and the cities.

Now, in light of the 2024 election, voters must ask themselves if this is the type of policy they want if “IF WE WERE PRESIDENT…”

Former President Donald Trump has blasted Biden for his immigration policy relentlessly as well as the “Deep State,” otherwise known as the federal agencies.

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. announced his presidential campaign as a democrat last Wednesday in Boston, and subsequently, Tucker Carlson’s interviewed him.

Kennedy has blasted the capture of federal regulatory agencies for decades - first the EPA over how it was not regulating corporations polluting America, and in more recent years, the FDA, CDC, NIH, NIAID and raised the conversation about the 54% of America children are not healthy. Over the last three years, Kennedy has taken on the covid “shots.”

Kennedy reminded the audience about what is happening to Americans and even what America is being about Ukrainian, which he says is “a lie.”

Kennedy called “the state and corporate power which is turning our country into a corporate kleptocracy. Cushy socialism for the rich and a kind of brutal merciless capitalism for the poor.”

Kennedy focused on the US government telling 30 million Americans just last week that it “was cutting their welfare checks - food stamp checks - by 90%.”

He also reminded the audience that simultaneously the U.S. has spent $113 billion in Ukraine.

You can watch Kennedy’s short interview here.

Perhaps, if the Biden Administration had had a sane plan to pull out of Afghanistan in August 2021, not been so willing to turn Ukraine into the Biden administration’s proxy war to dethrone Putin, and had a lawful immigration policy upholding the U.S. Constitution, the U.S. immigration issue may not be so out of control.

And, all this, on the eve of Biden’s expected taped announcement for his presidential re-election.
