UPDATE 12:17pm EST: The press conference also detailed corruption by former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovich...
Former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine Maria Jovanovic, US charge d'Affaires in Ukraine George Kent and FBI Special Representative for Eastern Europe Keren Greenway blocked the return of funds stolen by the Yanukovych regime to Ukraine in the amount of the country's annual budget.
This was announced at a press conference in the Interfax-Ukraine news agency by the ex-prosecutor Konstantin Kulik, who investigated the crimes of the Yanukovych regime in 2016-2019.
According to him, the threat to the investigation has existed since 2014, and was associated with opposition from representatives of the US Embassy in Ukraine.
“This is the former ambassador Marie Jovanovic, US Chargé d' Affaires in Ukraine George E. Kent e and the special representative of the FBI in Eastern Europe, Keren Greenway, who led the activities of the FBI investigators sent to the US Embassy in Ukraine. One of the group’s tasks was to block Ukraine’s return of funds stolen under the Yanukovych regime in the amount of the annual budget, which put the state in a difficult position , ”Kulik said.
According to him, they "placed fulfillment of orders of representatives of the US Democratic Party over the interests of justice."
“In 2018, it became clear that Biden, Jovanovic, Kent and Greenway are doing everything to block the investigation of Zlochevsky and other persons of the Yanukovych regime and are doing this in coordination with the environment of Poroshenko. Without an investigation of their activities, there is no chance to continue confiscating assets for 40 billion dollars, "he stressed.
He said that a former prosecutor general, Ruslan Ryaboshapka, was also involved in stopping a number of resonant proceedings.
"Ryaboshapka, in coordination with the US Embassy in Ukraine, has taken measures to illegally dismiss the prosecutors of the group who investigated economic crimes of the regime of Yanukovych, Zlochevsky and Burisma Holding Limited, " Kulik said.
According to him, Ryaboshapka stopped the execution of international orders on legal assistance and other investigative and procedural actions.
"He was blocked from obtaining a court decision on disclosing bank secrecy about the movement of funds in the accounts of ROSEMONT SENECA BOHAI LLC, the interrogation of ex-ambassador Jovanovic, etc., " said Kulik.
According to the ex-prosecutor, on February 27, a week before his dismissal, Ryaboshapka transferred the proceedings on Zlochevsky and "Burisma Holding Limited" to NABU, where Zlochevsky’s other work lies for 4 years - granting special permits for the use of subsoil.
According to Kulik, the result of Ryaboshapka’s actions was to stop the investigation of economic crimes of the Yanukovych regime and the planned confiscation of funds in the budget of Ukraine in the amount of $ 6 billion in 2019.
