President Donald Trump told reporters today on Air Force One that he isn’t thinking about a ‘phase two’ trade deal as he has more important things on his mind. He also said the relationship between China and the United States was ‘severely damaged’.
“They could have stopped the plague. They could have stopped it. They didn’t stop it,” Trump said on Air Force One en route to Florida, according to reporters present on the plane.
Asked if that friction meant “phase two” of the U.S.-China trade deal would no longer happen, Trump said he wasn’t even thinking about it and that he had many other things on his mind, reported CNBC.
China is apparently behind in its purchases of American agriculture products. The White House has also made it clear there are further punitive measures in store for Beijing to punish the Chinese Communist Party for its behavior.
