Hogwarts Legacy is the most anticipated game of the year for Harry Potter fans. Warner Brothers is under fire after using the controversial Denuvo software.

The game cracker known as Empress sent an acid message to Warner Brothers, threatening to crack Hogwarts Legacy within 10 days if the company doesn’t stop using Denuvo in the games.

Denuvo is an anti-piracy technology developed by the Austrian company Denuvo Software Solutions GmbH, a subsidiary of Irdeto. Even if it provides extra security, this technology allegedly causes serious performance issues, even locking users out of their accounts. According to some players, the constant encrypting and decrypting wears down the SSDs much faster.

Empress took to Reddit to send an acid message to Warner Brother for using this “cancer” in their games. She usually cracks games 6 months to a year after their release, but this time she promises to put her other projects aside and focus solely on Hogwarts Legacy. This would make the game available for free to worldwide players, withdrawing her support of early revenue for the company.

This is not the first time Hogwarts Legacy became the center of controversy in online media. Recently the website havetheystreamedthatwizardgame.com made it available for Twitch users to check if their favorite streamers play the game. Political activist Ian Miles Cheong warned the streamers of losing their jobs if they play the game, claiming that it supports transphobia.
