Five weeks before the Canadian national election, a photo has surfaced of sitting Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in blackface, according to Reuters.
"I should have known better then, but I didn't, and I did it, and I'd deeply sorry," he said to reporters while in between campaign stops on his state-sponsored aircraft.
Here's the awkward clip of the announcement:
Perhaps more surprising than the news that Trudeau exercised poor judgment as a young man is that such a purportedly woke liberal would claim that he didn't know it was racist...in 2001.
It was an "Aladdin party," he claims. Oh bien sur, monsieur!
"We didn't know it was wrong, and now we know better," Trudeau claimed. Je suis desolé!
But it gets worse. A reporter asks, "Is that the only time in your life you've ever done something like that?" Trudeau's answer: "When I was in high school, I dressed up in a talent show and sang 'Day-O.' With, with, with makeup on."
Daylight come and he want go home.
