COVID-19 is giving Big Tech and governments all over the globe an excuse to become a totalitarian nightmare straight out of a George Orwell dystopian novel.

"It was a bright cold day in April, and the clocks were striking thirteen."

    George Orwell, 1984

A drone was spotted over a Manhattan park on April 5th warning those strolling below that the lives of their loved ones depends on their ability to social distance.

“This is the Anti-COVID-19 volunteer drone task force. Please maintain a social distance of at least six feet,” the drone cautions park goers through a loudspeaker system. “Again, please maintain social distancing." The video below posted by CBS News catches the soothing, robotic voice as it repeatedly notifies park goers that freedom is slavery:

The FAA is currently investigating whether any aviation rules were broken as the drone has not been claimed by any group and doesn’t appear to belong to a government entity. It does appear to be imitating drones used in other nations to disperse crowds and warn civilians caught in public during COVID-19 lockdowns. Similar technology is being used in Daytona Beach by local authorities as well as Australia, Colombia, Spain and Italy

The unmanned aerial vehicles are intended to bring a sense of security to people as they enforce social distancing guidelines. The sirens and flashing lights also help add to the calming effect that the government totally has a handle on the pandemic.

"If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face—for ever."

    George Orwell, 1984

Video footage surfaced of a subway passenger in Philadelphia being ripped and dragged  from the public transportation by local police, who themselves are in clear non-compliance of the CDC’s recommended social distancing of 6 feet -- all for reportedly not wearing a face mask.

Instead of just giving the man a mask, they decided his arrest was justified. At the same time that thousands and thousands of inmates are being released from Philadelphia prisons over fears that prisoners may be susceptible to the Chinavirus, a man is being taken to jail for not wearing a commodity meant for personal protection that is also difficult to find on a shelf as there's a national shortage of them.

    "Big Brother is Watching You!"

    George Orwell, 1984

In case you had any reservations about whether the coronavirus epidemic would be used to further the data mining goals of Big Tech, Google and Apple are both launching location data apps to track phones and their proximity to each other as a way to track the health of their users. From The Verge:

The new system, which is laid out in a series of documents and white papers, would use short-range Bluetooth communications to establish a voluntary contact-tracing network, keeping extensive data on phones that have been in close proximity with each other. Official apps from public health authorities will get access to this data, and users who download them can report if they’ve been diagnosed with COVID-19. The system will also alert people who download them to whether they were in close contact with an infected person.

Of course, this is all for your own good. Google has tried to take the lead on COVID-19, quickly launching an interactive site to track cases worldwide and cracking down on anybody pushing an alternative view on the global pandemic.

“But if thought corrupts language, language can also corrupt thought.”

    George Orwell, 1984

While focused on becoming an essential part of how America combats the novel coronavirus, Google has also been acting as a gatekeeper of information to the public. The conglomerate recently banned the Infowars App from the Google Play Store after Alex Jones had the audacity to question whether the excessive government was really needed.

    From WIRED

"The takedown comes on the heels of a video, posted in the Infowars app last week and viewed by WIRED, in which Jones disputed the need for social distancing, shelter in place, and quarantine efforts meant to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus."

Alex Jones has already been deplatformed by Twitter, Facebook, Youtube and Apple stores for what the tech giants see as “spreading misinformation.” But I ask, which is more damaging to the general public: believing everything that Alex Jones and his obvious tinhat character says on an internet show or believing everybody who hears Alex Jones is incapable of distinguishing between conspiracy theories and reality to the point that he has to be banned from popular platforms to ensure fair elections?

“And if all others accepted the lie which the Party imposed—if all records told the same tale—then the lie passed into history and became truth. 'Who controls the past' ran the Party slogan, 'controls the future: who controls the present controls the past.”

    George Orwell, 1984

The Ministry of Truth was hard at work on Friday morning, rewriting the record pertaining to how unclaimed bodies are handled in New York. Video released from the BBC claims to show the mass graves of coronavirus victims being buried in trenches dug on Hart Island. However, that site has been used for all unclaimed corpse burials for the last 150 years and the city denies that they are the direct result of COVID-19. As of publishing, BBC has still not retracted the insinuation that these burials are because of the Wuhan Flu.

Remember the old saw about warmer days ending virus epidemics? Some expert has recently countered that when it is 60's and 70's in the south the viruses are just as potent as when it is 30's and 40's in the north, so...viruses are not affected by air temperatures, right?

Here's the rub, warm spring and summer weather do curtail virus epidemics. It is a fact that has been observed by all of us. Another fact observed by all northerners vacationing in the south is that when it is 60 and 70 in Arizona the natives are wearing parkas and staying indoors. OK, so if it isn't the temperature, why do the viruses die off in warmer weather? Because, beginning in April, American's everywhere sense that it might be nice to go outside in this "warmer" weather.

Tah da! It is the going outside that defeats the viruses! You're welcome.
