While the media likes to paint Trump supporters as the aggressors against peaceful Democrats, in the age of social media, there is little ability to further propagate that story. In a viral video posted by Students for Trump, two women were caught confronting Trump supporters who were protesting the Democratic National Convention in Wilmington, Delaware. These two women have now been indicted by a grand jury for hate crime charges.

In the video, two women are seen grabbing a red MAGA hat from a Trump supporter. A boy is heard in the video saying, “That’s somebody else’s hat,” and then, “Call 911.” Then, the video shows the man trying to get his hat back, but is instead punched in the face and his hat is thrown over a fence.”

Because of the video, the women were identified, arrested, and charged with second-degree conspiracy, endangering a child’s welfare, third-degree assault, attempted third-degree assault, offensive touching, and felony hate crimes.

Delaware Attorney General Kathy Jennings wrote a statement about the event, and highlighted the severity of the crimes. She wrote, “harming another person, let alone a child, because fo the expression of their views betrays the principles on which our country was founded.”

This is not the first time Trump supporters have been attacked for supporting the president. Following the Republican National Convention’s final night when Trump formally accepted the party’s nomination, protestors were eager to meet attendees of the speech outside the White House gates. Georgia State Representative Vernon Jones blamed the “liberal media” for repeatedly overlooking these attacks. Jones said the violent mob that met the Trump supporters has said the narrative about “peaceful” protests around the United States is “foolishness.” About the event, Jones said, “Where is the liberal media? Why haven’t they reached out to me and the other and allowed us to share our experiences of the threats that we experienced so the American people can see first hand what happened?”
