On Monday, Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH) sent a letter to the FBI regarding allegations brought forth by a whistleblower who claims that the FBI reassigned January 6 cases to Field Offices rather than keeping the cases in Washington.

According to the whistleblower, the FBI violated standard investigative practices when the cases were relocated to Field Offices based on where the subjects of the investigation were from.

In the letter to the FBI, Jordan stated that a "Task Force" gave instructions to have the cases reassigned to local offices when the cases, "Should all be officially led by the WFO [Washington Field Office] and categorized as cases." The reassignment of January 6 cases was misleading as it gave the impression that the Field Offices were leading the investigations, when in fact, the Washington Field Office was doing the bulk of the work.

According to the whistleblower, "The manipulative casefile practice creates false and misleading crime statistics. Instead of hundreds of investigations stemming from a single black swan incident at the Capitol, FBI and DOJ officials point to significant increases in domestic violent extremism and terrorism around the United States." Not only has the FBI broken investigative standards, but they have also manipulated statistics to show an increase in domestic violent extremism - a narrative that has been supported by the Biden administration since the Capitol riot.

The whistleblower also made allegations that January 6 cases have been given priority over other cases stating that they were, "told that child sexual abuse material investigations were no longer an FBI priority and should be referred to local law enforcement agencies."

A total of 3 FBI whistleblowers have now come forward regarding being pressured to reclassify cases as "domestic violent extremism" when there has been little evidence to support the classification.

In his letter to the FBI, Jordan requested that it turn over communications and other related documents. Jordan has previously expressed frustration at the FBI and DOJ's limited responses to requests.
