In an interview that California governor Gavin Newsom did with ABC10 News, he complained that California is having to pay for hundreds of thousands of illegal migrants and border crossers that arrive monthly via buses and flights orchestrated by the Biden administration as part of its Catch and Release network.

    Newsom told the reporter:

The federal government is sending more and more flights, and more and more buses directly here to California because this state is doing what no other state's doing and that's absorbing and protecting and preserving our values and advancing them by doing health care screenings, and taking care of folks, and the more we do, the burden is placed disproportionate on us.

We're already at capacity and nine of our sites. We can't continue to fund all of these sites because of the budgetary pressures now being placed on this state and the offsetting issues that I have to address.

Newsom's gripes come after California's sanctuary state policy helped to encourage illegal immigration with its protections from arrest and deportation. Not only that, but the state's policy also offers free health insurance for 4.4 million illegal residents that are funded by tax-payer dollars. California also issues state IDs for illegal immigrants under the policy.

With Title 42 set to end in a few days, Newsom is beginning to feel the pressure of the sanctuary policy and its unsustainability long-term.

"The fact is, what we've got right now is not working, and it's about to break in a post-42 world unless we take some responsibility and ownership," Newsom told the station.

Newsom went on to blame Republicans for the influx of illegal migrants and suggested that the best resolution to the issue is to provide amnesty to the 11 to 22 million illegal border crossers in the U.S.

According to figures released in October, roughly 1.4 million illegal migrants have been released into the U.S. by the Biden administration since Joe Biden took office in January 2021. That figure does not include the more than 600,000 migrants who are known to have crossed the southern border illegally.
