After the news broke earlier this week that classified documents were found in a locked closet in President Joe Biden's former office at the Penn Biden Center in early November, White House aides have since launched a scavenger hunt that has now turned up more classified materials in a different, undisclosed, location.
The classification level, number of documents, and location of the materials have not been released at this time. It is also still unclear when the additional materials were located.
Biden aides have been scouring through documents stored in various locations, searching for any other misplaced sensitive documents that need to not only be returned to the National Archives but also reviewed by the DOJ.
According to a person familiar with the situation, the search for any other classified documents has been exhaustive as aides comb through boxes that were packed at the time Biden was vacating the vice president's office space in January 2017.
On Monday, it was revealed that classified intelligence materials related to Ukraine, Iran, and the UK were found in Biden's former private office at the Penn Biden Center in November, just days before the midterm elections. The documents contained a marking for "sensitive compartmented information" (SCIF) and were handed over quietly to the National Archives the day after they were discovered in a locked closet.
When news of the classified documents being located was brought to Biden's attention, the President said that he was "surprised" that the materials were in his former office and said, "I don't know what's in the documents."
The White House has since been dodging questions from reporters regarding the documents, Biden's lack of concern over the error, and glaringly lax response in comparison to the overblown FBI raid at former President Donald Trump's estate after it was discovered that he, too had classified documents that should have no longer been in his possession. Now, with the location and identification of additional sensitive materials, it's time for the Biden administration to provide some answers.
