The Conservative Action Project (CAP) is supporting Senator Rand Paul’s amendment to a bill to rehire firefighters who lost their jobs because they refused to take a covid vaccination.
The Senate will have an opportunity to consider Paul’s S.870 amendment .
“We urge all senators to support this,” states the CAP.
The bill reauthorizes grant funding for fire departments and will expire in 18 months. The Congressional Budget Office estimates it will cost $15.8 billion over ten years, without an offset.
“It is unconscionable that we should put American citizens in this position. It not only goes against the vital free conscience rights of every American, it impacts critical sectors of our economy,” states the CAP petition.
“The Senate should begin to undo the damage wrought by heavy-handed and irrational COVID-19 mandates. Senator Paul’s amendment is a first step in that direction. The Senate should take up this amendment and others in a robust amendment process. We ask all senators to support it, and we urge the Senate not to pass S.870 unless it includes Senator Paul’s amendment” urges the signers of the petition, who include Ed Meese, the former Attorney General of the United States.
