Having grown up as a child in a generation during John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy’s assassination, now witnessing the Biden Administration denying Secret Service Protection to democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. demonstrates the loathsome hypocrisy of Joe Biden’s cabal that defies the dignity of American history and the people’s Oval Office.
“The White House and the DNC are playing hardball pitching hate and vilifying me in the press with hate speech and the most odious defamations that might reasonably incite violence while simultaneously denying me the security to which I’m entitled,” states RFK, Jr in a presidential press release.
Having covered presidential campaigns since 1980, longer than the first time Joe Biden was forced to drop his 1988 presidential campaign because he lied on the campaign trail and committed plagiarism, Biden’s decision now not to protect Bobby Kennedy, Jr. demonstrates what white trash Joe Biden truly is.
Joe Biden is a self-serving national disgrace the likes of which the U.S. has never seen.
For those of us who have covered national politics for decades going back to when the national political press corps was relatively small, Biden’s confounding and despicable decision is morally indefensible.
But, what adds insults to this decision is the lies that this administration spews to justifies its action.
“The Secret Service does not provide protection to non-incumbent Presidential candidates until 120 days before the general election. The next election is Nov 5, 2024. July 8, 2024 is the 120 days prior” is now the Secret Service Protection’s mantra.
That statement is an historical lie and the Biden White House is banking that Americans have historical amnesia.
And, the buck stops on Joe Biden’s desk even though he brandishes a bust of Robert F. Kennedy on his credenza behind it.
And, for those 75 million of Americans who were born after 1990, that is Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.’s late Father.
The hypocrisy of Biden’s decision is breathtaking when one puts his decision in that context.
So, here’s some history on Secret Service Protection and how other presidents reacted when challenged for their job or their party’s hold of the Oval Office.
In late September 1979, Senator Teddy Kennedy (D-MA) was on the verge of challenging President Jimmy Carter for the 1980 democratic presidential nomination. Carter was going to run for re-election. Kennedy was at the stage of announcing an exploratory committee for his presidential campaign in November 1979.
Everyone in the national press corps knew if and when Teddy Kennedy jumped in, it was going to be a contentious race.
The Carter White House, in conjunction with the Kennedy staff, went ahead and ordered Secret Service Protection for Kennedy in September 1979 - well over a year before the November 1980 Election Day.
Teddy Kennedy was the brother of the late President John F. Kennedy and the late U.S. Senator Bobby Kennedy. Both assassinated in 1963 and 1968, respectively.
WHY did the Carter White House decide that?
Because it was the right thing to do.
The beloved late “Jody Powell, the White House press secretary, said that Mr. Carter had acted on the basis of an “assessment” of Senator Kennedy's safety by the Secret Service, and of conversations between the White House and Senator Kennedy's staff, which finally requested the protection,” as reported in the New York Times at that time.
“My family and I deeply appreciate his action on this matter,” Senator Kennedy stated in a one‐sentence statement to the press.
When Reverend Jesse Jackson ran for president in 1984 and 1988, the Reverend received Secret Service Protection early during the Reagan administration. The Reverend never received the democratic nomination.
WHY did the Reagan administration make that decision?
Because it was the right thing to do.
The George W. Bush’s Secret Service Protection immediately gave Barack Obama Secret Service Protection in May 2007 - well ahead of the 2008 first presidential caucus and primary.
WHY did the Bush administration make that decision?
Because it was the right thing to do for obvious reasons and the press were privately told at the time, the threats to Obama were incoming.
In November 2015 - a year out from the 2016 presidential election, Donald J. Trump and Ben Carson both received Secret Service Protection as a result of their requests.
The 2024 RFK, Jr presidential campaign has delivered 67-pages of threat assessments to justify its request for Secret Service Protection. It was written by a security giant in the industry.
And, it was denied based upon a lie by the Biden Administration.
The legacy media, which I was a part of for decades, and served as the Political Director of CNN before MSNBC, FOX, Huffington Post, Politico and the like were ever created, are now reporting that the Biden’s administration position is acceptable historically.
The Legacy media’s reporting is the antithesis of presidential campaign history.
There is no historical justification for denying Secret Service Protection for Bobby Kennedy, Jr.’s presidential campaign.
Shame on every democrat and republican in Washington, D.C., who remembers history, and does not challenge Biden over this decision. Alot of people involved with presidential campaigns know the truth about the value of Secret Service Protection.
The benefit to a presidential campaign is not just protection to the candidate, but the co-ordination of protection between the local law enforcement and a campaign. The back up of Secret Service to local law enforcement is an enormous asset to local enforcement.
That, perhaps, is the real reason why the Biden Administration is denying Bobby Kennedy, Jr. protection.
If something happens, blame it on the local cops.
First, the Biden cabal defamed Bobby. Then they gaslighted Bobby. Then, they censored Bobby, and continue to do so. Then they insulted and smeared him in a congressional hearing on censorship, and studiously attempted to shut down that hearing by misconstruing and lying about what Bobby had stated.
Now, the Biden cabal is feeding more lies to young reporters and lazy editors who either remember history and ignore it, or prefer to be spoon-fed by an administration who has proven continuously they lie to the press corps to hold on to bogus and hollow narratives.
Any political journalist who ignores history has no business covering politics.
