It was predictable for months and desired by many Republicans to toss Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel for someone else, but who remained a mystery until Tuesday.

McDaniel, 50, is the daughter of Scott Romney, the older brother of Senator Mitt Romney (R-Utah), and the granddaughter of the late three-term moderate Republican Governor George W. Romney of Michigan.

McDaniel is reportedly planning to step down after her poor fundraising efforts for the GOP.

McDaniel has told former President Donald Trump that she will step down after the South Carolina GOP primary on February 24.

Trump and McDaniel met on Monday at Mar-a-Lago. Trump offered kind words for McDaniel, pointing to their success during the 2016 presidential campaign on social media on Monday.

"In my successful run in 2016, the State of Michigan really came through - First time in Decades that it was won by a Republican, and it was headed up by my friend Ronna McDaniel. Ronna is now Head of the RNC, and I’ll be making a decision the day after the South Carolina Primary as to my recommendations for RNC Growth," Trump posted on Truth Social.

Trump is expected to recommend North Carolina GOP Chairman Michael Whatley to succeed McDaniel as the Republican National Committee Chair. Whatley also serves as the Republican National Committee General Counsel.

Good. Anybody affiliated with the Romney brand needs to be purged from the RNC/GOP and pursue a different career path. I hear the Dems are always looking for new, feckless pantywaists.

    No Ronna, don't go!

    Said no Republican ever.

Good bye Ronna. We already have MORE than enough Democrats in the GOP. We don't need one running the party, too...though, I admit, we're likely to end up with another one at the helm when you go...

Dear President Trump - there are SO MANY better candidates. We need some clear and concise communication and some budgetary discipline. Anyone even associated with the latest RNC budget should NOT be considered for leadership.
