Yesterday Attorney General William Barr left the door open to federal prosecution of former President Obama and former Vice President Biden. The Fake News corporate media parsed the AG’s comments and reported that Barr didn’t envision the Durham investigation to lead to criminal probes of either man. These news organizations all fail to include a glaring qualifier the AG used to preface his hopeful absolution of Obama’s criminality which is the admission that he doesn’t yet have all the information.
“Whatever their level of involvement, based on the information I have today, I don’t expect Mr. Durham’s work will lead to a criminal investigation of either man,” Barr said, referring to Obama and Biden. “Our concern over potential criminality is focused on others.”
The larger fact is that Durham is still investigating the wrongdoing of the DOJ/FBI and other federal agencies regarding the Russian Collusion Hoax that consumed Washington DC in a pointless witch hunt for two and a half years. No one, including the US Attorney General, knows where the investigation will lead and who will be implicated in the vicious, all encompassing travesty of justice inflicted on President Trump and his administration. How bad was the Russia Hoax fabricated by Obama, Biden, Brennan, Clapper, Comey, et al?
“WHAT HAPPENED TO THE PRESIDENT, AND I HAVE SAID THIS MANY TIMES, IN THE 2016 ELECTION IN THE FIRST TWO YEARS OF HEAD IS -- OF HIS ADMINISTRATION WERE UNPRECEDENTED AND ABHORRENT. THE LAW ENFORCEMENT AND INTELLIGENCE APPARATUS OF THIS COUNTRY WERE INVOLVED IN ADVANCING A FALSE AND UTTERLY BASELESS RUSSIAN COLLUSION NARRATIVE AGAINST THE PRESIDENT. THE PROPER INVESTIGATIVE AND PROSECUTED STANDARDS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE WERE ABUSED, IN MY VIEW, IN ORDER TO REACH A PARTICULAR RESULT. WE SAW TWO DIFFERENT STANDARDS OF JUSTICE EMERGE. ONE THE APPLIED TO PRESIDENT TRUMP AND HIS ASSOCIATES AND THE OTHER THE APPLIED TO EVERYBODY ELSE. WE CANNOT ALLOW THIS EVER TO HAPPEN AGAIN.”
AG William Barr, May 18, 2020
The Attorney General was very clear that “Obamagate” was “unprecedented and abhorrent” but was at pains to point out that unprecedented and abhorrent behavior was not always illegal. The spirit of the law might have been “abused” and the “standard of justice” defiled but “not every abuse of power, no matter how outrageous, is necessary a federal crime..” Not what any impartial observer would call a ringing declaration of innocence for the previous President and his VP.
If the abuse of power, say spying on your political opponent, is done “by the book” with every t crossed and every i dotted then technically there is no “crime” committed. The DOJ can’t just make something up and charge people with fake crimes, can they? Well, they do it all the time. They did it to Gen. Michael Flynn. They did it, with Ukrainian help, to Paul Manafort. They did it to Roger Stone. If the 2020 election had turned out like it was supposed to you bet your life that HRC’s AG Tom Perez and Jim Comey would have done it good and hard to businessman Donald J. Trump and his family.
Bill Barr knows what every single person of power and influence in Washington DC knows and has known since Jan/Feb 2017 when the Russian Hoax took off and the DOJ and FBI tried to use the fake scandal to force Donald Trump from the Presidency. It was a Fake News story that should have been smothered by responsible leaders like Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan and Jeff Sessions who had the power and understood how to use it to stop the injustice but made an active choice to do the wrong thing. It’s almost impossible to imagine what the last 3 years would have been like without the distraction of Russiagate/Obamagate but the AG believes it “should never happen again.” Since every power player in Washington DC participated in this hoax it’s hard to imagine how Trump will be the last victim of “career public servants” in the administrative state.
