When the news broke that Hope Hicks, Trump’s longtime aide and confidante, tested positive for coronavirus, the world held its breath. And now, with just weeks until the presidential election, President Trump has tested positive.
But while the symptoms and the sickness of the coronavirus varies for each person, the White House reported that Trump has “mild symptoms.” Trump is also working from within his residence. In a letter to Kayleigh McEnany, Trump’s press secretary, the physician to the president said that Trump should be able to carry on with all duties from within his residence. Trump and Melania are already in quarantine.
The physician continued, “The White House medical team and I will maintain a vigilant watch, and I appreciate the support provided by some of our country’s greatest medical professionals and institutions.”
It is unclear whether Trump was positive during the presidential debate Tuesday, and if Biden has been tested. Harris, however, had a routine test done on Thursday and tested negative. Biden, however, did wish Trump a “swift recovery.” In a tweet, he said, "Jill and I send our thoughts to President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump for a swift recovery. We will continue to pray for the health and safety of the president and his family.”
Trump’s VP, Mike Pence and his wife both tested negative Friday morning for the virus. In a tweet, Pence wrote, Karen and I send our love and prayers to our dear friends President @realDonaldTrump and @FLOTUS Melania Trump. We join millions across America praying for their full and swift recovery. God bless you President Trump & our wonderful First Lady Melania.
