A New York court filing revealed that Britain’s Prince Andrew and Virginia Guiffre reached an out of court settlement, but did not stipulate the exact terms of their agreement.
Guiffre has accused the prince of sexually assaulting her while under the control of the late registered sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell, who currently sits in jail awaiting her sentencing.
In a letter addressed to Judge Lewis Kaplan, Guiffre’s attorney, David Boies wrote, “We write jointly with counsel for defendant to advise the Court that the parties reached a settlement in principle of the above-referenced action.”
The stipulation of dismissal will be filed “within thirty (30) days,” Boise wrote. “In the interim, the parties request that the Court suspend all deadlines and hold the action in abeyance.”
Prince Andrew’s deposition had been scheduled following his failure to get the case dismissed.
Although the specific sum of money Prince Andrew is to pay Guiffre, it did state that Andrew will make “a substantial donation to Ms. Guiffre’s charity in support of victims’ rights.”
