Internet traffic has been exploding over the Giuffre v. Maxwell defamation case, otherwise known as the “Epstein-related" unsealed document dumps since last Wednesday. Some journalists are misleading the public on what is new information in the unsealed documents. Alternatively, named parties have their own vested interests to expose others or defend themselves.
One man who has fought for years to get these documents unsealed is Alan Dershowitz, a renown legal scholar, who spent decades teaching at Harvard, who is also an appellate lawyer, a man schooled in the media, and someone who was accused of having sex with some of Epstein's victims, which Dershowitz has vehemently and consistently denied.
Although Alan Dershowitz may forever be linked to Jeffrey Epstein because he not only represented Epstein when Epstein was first investigated in 2005, and charged later, Dershowitz now regrets he ever knew Epstein.
Dershowitz was accused of having sex with two of Epstein’s victims - Virginia Roberts Giuffre and Sarah Ransome. Guiffre settled her case with Dershowitz and released a statement about mistaken identity. Ransome later admitted she lied about possessing tapes of individuals having sex.
In an interview with CDM, Alan Dershowitz states, “No money was exchanged," in the settlement of the case with Giuffre, but Dershowitz held off saying more because of the court's sealed ruling at this point.
As for Ransome, over the years she has stated that she made up some of her story although within the unsealing of the dockets, the press continues to cite Ransome's allegations and the accused continue to cite their denials.
Dershowitz wants every document in the Giuffre v. Maxwell case unsealed and released and claims he cannot yet talk about all the documents in the case because all have not been released. Derschowitz claims there are more exculpatory documents - not just related to him, but possibly to other parties as well.
Were their victims?
Yes, but the public knew that before this latest document release from the massive payouts from Epstein’s estate to the victims, from Epstein settling individual cases in the past, and the large amounts paid to the victims’ fund established after Epstein's death in August 2019, and from the J.P.Morgan payments to victims after his death. Epstein did business for years through Jes Stavely at JP Morgan. That information is not in these troves of documents, but was earlier reported by CDM.
Was Ghislaine Maxwell acting like a female pimp for Epstein?
The British socialite claimed to one person in the Epstein/Maxwell black book dated 2004-2005 that she was President of one of Epstein’s company. Maxwell was trying to become a member of Young President’s Organization. Her request went no where after one meeting.
Maxwell was convicted in Dec. 2021 on sex trafficking charges and is currently serving her time in federal prison in Florida, as earlier reported by CDM.
The late former Palm Beach Police Detective Joseph Recarey stated in his 2016 deposition, as evidenced in the recently released document trove, that Ghislaine Maxwell was involved in seeking girls to give massages and work at Epstein’s home.
Recarey interviewed around 33 females, according to his transcript. Most of the girls were younger than 18 years of age. Only two older ones had any massage experience, according to Recarey.
"Each of the victims that went to the home were asked to bring their friends to the home. Some complied and some didn’t," Recarey stated.
Did some people know what was going on?
The newly released deposition of Johanna Sjoberg states she was recruited by Ghislaine Maxwell as a massage therapist while attending Palm Beach Atlantic College in 2001. She later met magician David Copperfield over dinner at Epstein’s home. Copperfield asked Sjoberg if she knew that girls were being paid to bring their friends to Epstein.
The question arising from this revelation, which is new - "Was Copperfield interviewed by law enforcement? Did he ever report this to the police? If not, why not?"
Were powerful and well-known people entangled with Jeffrey Epstein?
Yes, but that does necessarily mean they were all guilty of rape, sex trafficking or other crimes.
Former Presidents Bill Clinton and Donald Trump’s names are in the documents, but no where in these newly released documents are claims that Clinton or Trump had sex with anyone connected to Epstein.
Immediately after the first document trove was released last Wednesday, one journalist took to social media and claimed that Trump had never been to Epstein’s house.
That is incorrect.
Former President Donald Trump admitted years ago that he had been at Epstein’s home in Palm Beach. Even in the unsealed documents, one of Epstein’s housekeepers states that Trump had come by the Palm Beach residence, and ate dinner in the kitchen with the housekeeper, who never witnessed any sordid behavior by the former president.
Brad Edwards, whose name is also in the trove of documents, has represented a large number of Epstein's victims legally for years. He was one of Epstein’s most formidable legal opponents. Edwards was tenacious. Epstein had his lawyers sue Edwards seemingly to derail Edwards from going after Epstein on behalf of the victims.
But, the tide turned when the most articulate, eloquent, respected and determined of all - former prosecutor Jack Scarola - chose to represent Brad Edwards in that case against Epstein. Scarola's efforts brought Epstein to his knees for his legal shenanigans against Brad Edwards.
As a result, one of Jeffrey Epstein’s then lawyers had to read Epstein’s apology publicly in court after Epstein agreed to drop the case against Edwards admitting he knew Brad Edwards did no wrong.
Epstein’s statement then was the only time, where Epstein admitted publicly going after another opposing attorney with a fabricated case to destroy Brad Edward’s reputation just because Edwards was doing his best to bring justice to the victims.
Did Maxwell engage in sex with other women and did other women in Epstein’s sordid human trafficking orbit use other girls and women?
Yes, and probably more than many have admitted so far.
Even Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who has claimed she was trafficked to several men by Epstein and Maxwell, has admitted bringing girls into Epstein's orbit.
She is not alone.
Sarah Kellen and Nadia Marcinkova were named as co-conspirators in the first criminal case against Epstein circa 2007. Although they publicly have not admitted to bringing girls into Epstein's orbit, too many have mentioned their names.
Other women today, like the courageous Courtney Wild and Haley Robson, have admitted bringing other under-age girls to Epstein when they were very young.
Not only have they taken responsibility, but they have fought courageously to set the record straight on how nefarious this tangled web developed.
Courtney admitted to have been so manipulated by Epstein and those around him that she brought somewhere between 70 to 80 14 and 15 years old girls to Epstein for money.
Nadia Marcinkova invoked her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination in response to every question that appears in the partial transcript of the April 13, 2010 deposition, which was unsealed last Friday.
In 2019, other records revealed Marcinkova was a victim.
When deposed, Kellen also took the Fifth.
Were these women and girls as guilty as Epstein and Maxwell?
So far, seemingly not because no one else has been charged who worked for Epstein other than Ghislaine Maxwell.
Was Ghislaine Maxwell the only person held accountable in the Epstein saga?
She is the only person to date convicted. The late Jean Luc Brunel, who was a former business partner with Epstein, and a friend to Maxwell and Epstein, who frequently visited Epstein’s properties was arrested in France after Epstein died. Brunel also died in prison. Epstein died in a New York prison August 2019.
Were there payouts to Epstein victims and to the Epstein victims’ fund?
Yes, from JP Morgan, where Epstein banked and from Epstein’s estate. The payments were huge and approved by Jamie Dimon and the boys at JPMorgan.
One angle that has received some attention in the document trove is the name of Tony Lyons, President of Skyhorse Publishing.
Lyons’ name surfaced not because he represented Epstein, but because he is a publisher.
Some now want to link Lyons to the Epstein saga because he heads up one of the presidential political action committees, American Values 2024, which is connected to Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
“My company, Skyhorse Publishing has published ten books authored by Alan Dershowitz. I have no connection to the Epstein case beyond this tangential detail,” stated Mr. Lyons to CDM exclusively in a text.
“Skyhorse was pitched an expose on Epstein’s wrongdoing. The book was never written, however, in the course of exploring the project, I became privy to evidence that exonerated Alan Dershowitz in the civil case. I provided that information for the Court,” wrote Lyons. “That is the reason my name appears in some court documents related to Epstein,” he added.
In response to Lyons’ co-operation, Mr. Dershowitz has expressed his gratitude.
“I want to express my greatest appreciation to my publisher Tony Lyons for the invaluable help he provided me in my long efforts to clear my name. As my accuser has said: “Mr. Dershowitz has from the very beginning denied these allegations.” She “now recognize[s] that she may have made a mistake in identifying Mr. Dershowitz” as one of the men with whom she had sex,” Mr. Dershowitz wrote.
“Tony’s help included publishing Guilt by Accusation, which he helped to make a Wall Street Journal best seller. He helped in other ways as well, which remain sealed. I am seeking to unseal everything so that the world can see the entire story, especially Tony’s role in helping me try to clear my name. Thank you so much Tony and Skyhorse,” wrote Dershowitz.

The defamation lawsuit that led to the unsealing of these documents in question was settled in 2017. The case was filed by Virginia Roberts Giuffre against Ghislaine Maxwell.
In December 2023, U.S. District Judge Loretta A. Preska reviewed all of the sealed documents and ordered the documents unsealed on a rolling basis, with some exceptions. Some parties have objected and the judge is reviewing those cases.
Maxwell , 62, was charged with a six-count indictment on federal charges related to “the sexual exploitation and abuse of multiple girls by Jeffrey Epstein,” and was convicted on five counts in December 2021.
Today, Maxwell is serving out her sentence in a Florida federal prison. Her release date, according to the most recent search, is 2037. (The discrepancy of having been sentenced to 20 years in 2021 and released in 2037 is not explained).
Most of the contents of the document troves to date have been well-known and do not implicate new third parties.
Much of the information and names already known from prior public records and interviews are in the current document troves.
According to Giuffre’s deposition transcript, she was instructed to have sex with Britain’s Prince Andrew, another unnamed Prince, and the unnamed owner of a large hotel chain, and Glenn Dubin, who is married to a Swedish-born New York physician, Dr. Eva Dubin, who dated Epstein well before Maxwell entered Epstein’s life.
Prince Andrew has continued to deny the allegations even after giving a stunningly bizarre interview to the BBC in Nov. 2019, shortly after Epstein was found dead in his cell in August 2019, and before Maxwell was arrested a year later. He is reported to have paid millions to Giuffre's charity to help trafficked victims. Giuffre's case against Maxwell was also settled in Giuffre's favor.
Dubin in 2019 said he “strongly den[ies] these allegations” and described them as unsubstantiated statements. Dubin’s wife testified on behalf of Maxwell's defense in her criminal trial.
Former presidents Bill Clinton and Donald Trump were mentioned in depositions. There are no substantial allegations of wrongdoings other than Sarah Ransome falsely stating she had seen sex tapes of Bill Clinton, Donald Trump and Virgin's Richard Branson. Ransome later recanted her statement to a reporter.
Within the documents, one of Epstein's victims claimed that Epstein told her that former President Bill Clinton "like them [girls] young."
Thomas Pritzker, billionaire Pritzker heir and executive chairman of Hyatt Hotels, is in the documents.
“Q: If I were to ask you the question how many times have you had sex with Tom Pritzker, do you know what that question means? A: I believe so. Q: All right. And what is the answer to that question? A: I believe I was with Tom once.” (Attachment 38, Giuffre deposition)
“Q: Do you recall meeting … Tom Pritzker? A: No.” (Attachment 12, Sjoberg deposition)
A spokesperson for Pritzker has claimed in the past that the release of documents linking him to Epstein would damage his reputation, and “continues to vehemently deny” any allegations today.
Giuffre’s attorney, Sigrid McCawley, said her client was fully supportive of the release of the documents.
“Her position has always been that if the information is going to come out, all of it should come out,” McCawley said. “Everybody should know everything — that’s in fairness to all of those who have been involved.”
