Today is the deadline for New York healthcare workers to get the Covid 19 jab or face discharge. The emergency state order requires those who work inside state health care facilitates to get their first shot by midnight and have a Covid passport to prove it to their employer. Short of this, workers will be immediately suspended with pending termination starting tomorrow. 

For the past month, since the emergency order was signed, nurses and hospital workers have been pushing for court intervention, protesting at medical freedom rallies and lining up to get doctor’s exemption, but to no avail. Others have sought religious exemptions from vaccinations, but state rejection letters have gone out last week. 

Governor Hochul has hinted at declaring a state of emergency to get the National Guard to assist hospitals to make up the massive shortage of healthcare workers. Statistics as high as 49% have not received the vaccination in New York.
