A week ago the RINO Governor from Maryland, Larry Hogan, said, “I don't think it’s helpful to encourage demonstrations and encourage people to go against the president's own policy.” This scolding was in response to President Trump's Friday tweetstorm encouraging the people of Michigan, Minnesota and Virginia to "LIBERATE" themselves from the tyranny of blue state Governors. Hogan is technically a Republican but he's a #NeverTrump squish who fully supports the Democrat blue model of governance.
“I understand the frustration among the people that want to get things open right away,” said Hogan, who issued a stay-at-home order for his state in March. “I’m frustrated also. I mean, I wish I had someone to protest to. But, look, we’re doing everything we possibly can to reopen in a safe manner.”
Gov. Hogan doesn't really want to reopen his state because a week after his initial comments he announced his plan to execute a reopening plan which he plans to create along federal guidelines someday. It will have four key requirements: widespread and accessible testing, ramped-up hospital capacity, an army of contact-tracing workers to identify and possibly isolate any new patients, and a sufficient supply of personal protective equipment for all medical workers. “Unfortunately, life will not be able to just go back to normal,” Hogan said, adding that the soonest he could ease restrictions is early May (but probably the 4th of July or Labor Day).
Today a number of states started to reopen their businesses and by the end of the week 16 states will have started phase 1 of the "opening up" process for their societies. Not surprisingly, the states that are stepping up to free their citizens are overwhelmingly MAGA lead while those states slow rolling the process of liberation are TDS lead. The goals of the patriots is to ignite a recovery to make commerce and happiness part of America's daily life again while the confederates want prolonged economic and psychological depression for their hapless subjects. It's all political gamesmanship around the 2020 election and the victims are the American people - especially people in the North East, Great Lakes and West Coast states.
The unprecedented lockdown of America was kicked off by Rod Rosenstein's sister, Dr. Nancy Messonnier of the CDC, who made a surprise announcement in late Feb. while President Trump was overseas in India: "Ultimately, we expect we will see spread in this country. It’s not so much a question of if this will happen anymore, but rather a question of exactly when this will happen and how many people in this country will have severe illness. I understand this whole situation may seem overwhelming and that disruption to everyday life may be severe, but these are things people need to start thinking about now."
From that day (Feb 25) forward the American experiment in self government started shutting down. The first movers were tech companies and other businesses that were heavily invested in China who strongly recommended that their employees work from home. The next to fall were music festivals and sporting events tied to the Chinese market for revenue and growth. The same week private and public universities, that take a lot of money from China, cancelled classes for the year and asked their students to stay home and not return to campus. Then the retail stores like Apple and Nike closed their doors and once these premier brands, also deeply tied to China, shut their doors smaller shops followed. Finally the state and local governments passed executive orders to close all restaurants and public spaces to their citizens. It was only then, on March 16, that President Trump and his Coronavirus Task Force was forced to release the federal government recommendations on hand washing and social distancing.
That trick will never happen again. Last Friday when discussing the reopening of regional states President Trump said, “We will not go through what we went through for the last two months.” The Chinavirus was a single shot designed to cripple the US economy and remove Trump from office but it didn't work. Trump rolled with the shutdown, took $6T to spend as he sees fit and waited 30 days to reboot the country. The red states will reopen and the spread of the virus will be managed without a dramatic spike in death and sickness - just like the country would have if the public health officials had stuck with the pre-Feb. 25 plan. The pressure on the blue states to reopen and get back to normal will be impossible to hold back so all the tin pot tyrants who've been ruining the lives of their citizens will be forced to relent and set their people free.
