Sam Caucci, the founder of 1Huddle, the workforce training platform that uses gaming to effectively instruct younger workers, has something to say about the state of workforce training in America today, and he's not happy.

"The workforce is different today. Never before have we seen 5 different generations at work at the same time.  And, as a major company in the franchise space, we know companies like yours struggle with onboarding faster, upskilling employees better and firing up your people," Caucci declared to a recent group of American franchise community CEOs.

"But that motivation thing is getting harder and harder. A recent study found that employees spend nearly 1/3 of working time --- not doing work. And this isn't just a problem with Millennials. You have this problem with all your employees."

Caucci believes companies have to do a better job of training employees to increase effectiveness, retention, and customer satisfaction. "You have to do a better job of getting people ready for work if you want to grow your businesses!" he pronounced at the recent event. "HR teams are holding your company back. You have to break the stranglehold they have over your training programs, and think out of the box."

1Huddle believes companies are thinking about artificial intelligence and approaching automation the wrong way. "Why not use technology to better train your workers rather than replace them? We have to get government agencies to remove the barriers that exist for using [24/7] gaming to train up your employees. Regulation that limits or reduces how much we can invest in people simply is wrong and harmful to the bottom line.

"If we don't get government out of the way, and improve the way we train employees, especially those who are on the front line with customers, our labor force will be less prepared, it will not look like you think it should, sales targets will be missed, and turnover will be higher which can crush a business.

"Gaming can make it more fun, more effective; we can use technology to not replace people, but to train people better."

It seems like Caucci is on to something.

The CEO of 1Huddle explained how even the military uses gaming in Special Forces training to achieve a better result. Some of corporate America's principles overlap with what the military has discovered it can achieve with more interactive instruction.

"We live in a world where any employee told to get off their phone during business hours can file a lawsuit. Issues like this and overreaching government regulation, like the affordable care act, are a call to action for corporate leadership. Let's skate to where the puck is going, not where it is."

"Gamification is not about motivating people to achieve the company’s goals, it's about motivating people to achieve their own goals.

"People don’t have goal of working harder, but many want to work better.  Games engage people on an emotional level to motivate them."
