Google withdrew access of certain hardware and software to the Chinese telecom manufacturer Huawei after an executive order blacklisting the company by U.S. President Donald Trump due to national security concerns.

The move could hobble Huawei’s smartphone business outside China as the tech giant will immediately lose access to updates to Google’s Android operating system, writes CNBC.

Alphabet’s Google has suspended business with Huawei that requires the transfer of hardware and software products except those covered by open source licenses, a source close to the matter told Reuters on Sunday.

The move comes after U.S. chip companies also been choking off supplies to Huawei on directions from the U.S. government.

“Huawei will only be able to use the public version of Android and will not be able to get access to proprietary apps and services from Google,” a source told CNBC.
