Upon being discharged from the hospital Johnson thanked the National Health Service (NHS) for his exemplary care and noted it "could have gone either way" regarding his recovery. In a brief public address the prime minister was visibly moved by the dedication the doctors and nurses of the NHS have demonstrated in treating all the sick and suffering people of Great Britain.

Johnson was diagnosed with Chinavius in late March but wasn't admitted to the hospital until his symptoms worsened. He moved to the intensive care unit for three nights and the nation watched and waited to see if their elected leader would recover. According to all concerned these were the darkest days of his illness and the world is still waiting to learn what doctors prescribed to heal their famous patient.

Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab will continue to run the government until Mr Johnson conveleces which might take as long as a month.
