While announcing upcoming changes to Sweden's border control policy, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson noted that "massive immigration just doesn't work." The announced changes will give Sweden the toughest border control policy in Europe. During his remarks, Kristersson also acknowledged that it is too easy for immigrants who don't speak Swedish to obtain citizenship.

"Let me be clear: Massive immigration and poor integration just doesn't work," Kristersson said.

"That is why we are now changing Sweden's migration policy and making it the strictest in the EU," he added.

The new policies would include measures to ensure that migrants did not have criminal backgrounds in their countries of origin and also accounts for ensuring that they respect Swedish culture.

"A 'no' to asylum means 'no' and you have to leave the country. That should be obvious, but it's not," Kristersson said.

The prime minister added that citizenship should be about more than simply obtaining a passport. He said that it should be a "social contract and that social contract contains both rights and obligations."

Up until now, "there has been absolutely no expectation that anyone who comes to Sweden will really learn our language," which is the "glue that binds us together," Kristersson added.

The policy changes come in part thanks to political lobbying by the right-wing Sweden Democrats party, which has become the second-largest party in the Rikesday and has kept Kristersson in office by means of a confidence and supply agreement.

Kristersson's predecessor Magdalena Anderson also warned that "Segregation has gone so far that we have parallel societies in Sweden. We live in the same country, but different realities." Anderson's remarks were made after ethnic riots in the country left more than 100 police officers injured.

Sweden was one of the safest counties in Europe two decades ago prior to a flood of mass immigration that has now led to the Scandinavian country being the second most dangerous nation in Europe in terms of gun violence coming in behind only Croatia.

Sweden's reputation for safety has declined so much that even Ukrainian refugees fleeing the Russian invasion last year requested to be sent to other countries as they felt that Sweden was too unsafe.

While Kristerrson works to strengthen Sweden's border policy and stem the flood of migration, native Swedes are currently set to become a minority in the country within a few decades if nothing drastically changes.
