Pence Says White House And Congress Agree Not To Shut Down Government, Fund At Current Levels Fiscal Agreement

Vice President Mike Pence said today The White House and Congress have an agreement to not shutdown the government and fund at current levels until a coronavirus relief package is agreed upon.

“Now, we can focus just on another relief bill, and we’re continuing to do that in good faith,” he told CNBC’s “Squawk on the Street.”

Government funding will lapse if Congress does not pass legislation before the end of the month. Speculation had grown that congressional leaders could try to include coronavirus stimulus measures in a spending package as a way to gain leverage in stimulus negotiations that have barely moved forward since they fell apart last month.

The hold up over relief funds caused President Trump to take actions himself with executive order to extend unemployment relief and defer payroll taxes.
