Nine Arab countries’ leaders on Thursday have condemned targeting civilians and violations of International law in Gaza by Israeli forces. The countries include: United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Egypt and Morocco.

They issued a joint statement supporting Israel’s right to self-defense following Hamas’ Oct. 7 attacks, but declared that did not justify breaking the law and neglecting Palestinians’ rights.

That followed in the footsteps of the IDF’s conducting an overnight raid crossing into Gaza with targets in northern Gaza, “as part of preparations for the next stages of combat.”

“During the activity, soldiers located and struck numerous terrorists, terror infrastructure and anti-tank missile launch posts, and operated to prepare the battlefield,” IDF stated.

The international community continues to sounds the alarm on a growing humanitarian crisis in the region.

The Biden Administration has called for a “pause” in Israel’s military operations against Hamas in order to allow more aid to get into Gaza.

In the meantime, Qatari is sending out the message that if the bombing stops, the hostages could be released in days. Qataris are talking and negotiating with Hamas.

“It is a very very difficult situation with bombings everyday,” said Qatari Minister of State, His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi. Both sides have no confidence with the other side.

"My aim is a positive result.  Release all of the civilian hostages. Mediators need a period of calm," the Minister said.

“Any escalation on both sides will make this situation more difficult, and there must be a way to get humanitarian inside Gaza,” he added.

On Thursday, French Ambassador Nicolas de Rivière, the Permanent Representative of France to the UN in New York was emphatic.

Pause, Release all the hostage and there needs to be a full international coalition to deal with the Palestinian and Israel once and for all he noted with much frustration.

Riviere has been insisting that the conflict be moved from a military solution to a political solution for several weeks.

“Only a resumption of dialogue will put an end to the spiral of violence. The emergency is a humanitarian one, but it is also a diplomatic one : we must do our utmost to avoid a regional conflagration,” stated the Ambassador in a October 19 statement. “Those who can benefit from the situation must abstain from joining the conflict.

The events of recent days confirm, if any confirmation was still needed, the urgent need for a political resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The conditions for a lasting peace are well known: essential guarantees for Israel’s security and a state for the Palestinians. The legitimate aspirations of the Palestinians and the security of Israel are indissociable. This is the line which France has always defended and will continue to follow. We must mobilize collectively in order to achieve this," the statement read.
