Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, 62, the mastermind behind the October 7 terrorist attack inside Israel, was among three terrorists killed in a military operation in Gaza, according to Foreign Minister Israel Katz on Thursday.

The Israeli military has not officially said whether the strike was by air or military personnel. It is thought to have been a shoot-out and Sinwar was caught in the cross-fire on Wednesday in Gaza, but from the looks of the photos circulating online, it looks like more than a shoot-out.

For the last year, IDF has been on the heels of capturing Sinwar but it is believed he had been moving throughout the tunnels under Gaza. Photos surfaced during the last year of a man entering tunnels similar to that of Sinwar.

During this strike in Gaza, the Hamas leader was above ground with two other leaders.

A photo circulating online and picked up by the New York Post shows a dead body resembling Sinwar. Sinwar was on Israel's list from the very beginning of IDF's plan to hunt down Hamas leaders responsible for the October 7 massacres.

This is a major coup for Israel. Netanyahu and other Israeli officials have stated since October 7 that Yahya Sinwar was a “dead man walking.”

Yahya Sinwar served as Hamas' leader in Gaza since 2017 and has led the terrorist group's Political Bureau after Ismail Haniyeh was assassinated in Iran this past July.

In a joint statement early Thursday, the Israel Defense Forces and Israel Security Agency - Shin Bet, said at least three militants were killed in a building during an operation in Gaza.

"In the building where the terrorists were eliminated, there were no signs of the presence of hostages in the area. The forces that are operating in the area are continuing to operate with the required caution,” announced the Israelis.

Sinwar was born in a refugee camp and spent years in an Israeli prison before rising to the top of the Iran-backed militant group.

After Sinwar’s body was found and before he was definitively identified, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant wrote in a post on X: "‘You will pursue your enemies and they will fall before you by the sword.’ — Leviticus 26. Our enemies cannot hide. We will pursue and eliminate them.”

An appropriate funeral would be to drop the body into a pig pen.
