UAE Expresses 'Discomfort' To US With New Syrian Jihadi Rulers

UAE informed the U.S. of its discomfort with Syria’s new government due to its extreme Islamic identity and firmly opposes U.S. tolerance of their rule.

UAE President’s Advisor Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Former Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs of the United Arab Emirates:

“We are concerned about the Islamic affiliations of the factions that toppled Assad.”

The statement of the Aqaba Ministerial Meeting on Syria reflects a positive Arab trend to support our brothers in the path of political and peaceful transition, and emphasizes the unity and sovereignty of Syria and the building of a state free of terrorism and extremism, while respecting the rights of Syrians without discrimination. Let us all learn from the lessons of the past decade, and look to the future with optimism, declared Gargash.
