Kurtis Kiyoshi Suzuki chose to flip the script at the White House today. On a beautiful sunny afternoon, Suzuki, catcher for the Washington Nationals, was invited to the microphone by President Trump in honor of his game-winning home run in Game 2 of the World Series. On his way to the lectern, Suzuki pulled out a red MAGA hat and doffed it.
Trump looked genuinely surprised, and hugged Suzuki. "I love him! That's so nice," exclaimed Trump. Suzuki kept it short and sweet at the microphone: "I love you all, I love you all, thank you." As he stepped away, Trump told the crowd, "What a job he did! I didn't know that was going to happen."
Suzuki, 36, became the oldest player to hit a go-ahead run in World Series game since 1949, and the first Hawaiian ever to hit a World Series home run.
First baseman Ryan Zimmerman presented the commemorative "45" Nationals jersey to Trump, thanking him for keeping the country safe and "continuing to keep America the greatest country in the world."
The display of support for the president comes after several days of bad PR. First it was the boos and chants of "lock him up" during a Game 5 appearance. Next, relief pitcher and social justice warrior Sean Doolittle announced on Saturday that he would be skipping the traditional White House visit, citing Trump's support of white supremacists in Charlottesville, Virginia in 2017, and his mocking of a disabled reporter in 2016.
Both of these events have been clearly demonstrated as fake news by a number of painstaking reports, but mainstream media--and even some Democratic presidential candidates--have cynically promulgated the stories. These are the kinds of lies that conservatives have tired of, and that feed division among Americans. Whether Doolittle demonstrated ignorance or chose to carry water for leftists is not known.

What we can safely deduce is that the Nationals just gave DC insiders the equivalent of a Gatorade bath: celebratory, shocking, and fun to watch.
