President Donald Trump attended the March For Life today, the first sitting president to do so. He spoke to the crowd, drawing roars of applause with a rousing, Christian message.

"We're here for a very simple reason: to defend the right of every child, born and unborn, to fulfill their God-given potential," Trump said at the opening of his fifteen minute speech in Washington, D.C. He lauded the crowd's size and youth, proclaiming that the young generation is making America a "pro-family, pro-life nation," and that the crowd is "powered by prayer and motivated by pure, unselfish love."

Trump was joined by cabinet members Alex Azar and Kellyanne Conway, Senators Mike Lee and James Langford, Reps. Steve Scalise, Chris Smith, Ralph Abraham, Warren Davidson, Bob Latta, John Joyce, Lloyd Smucker, Brian Fitzpatrick, Brad Wenstrup, and many others.

"Every child is a precious and sacred gift from God...when we see a the image of a baby in the womb, we glimpse the majesty of God's creation," Trump intoned. Then he took a swipe at the larger forces behind abortion. "At the United Nations, I made clear that global bureaucrats have no business attacking the sovereignty of nations that protect innocent life. Unborn children have never had a stronger defender in the White House."

Trump spoke to how his agenda over the past three years undergirds and protects pro-life concerns.

"We are preserving faith-based adoption, and to uphold our founding documents, we have confirmed 187 federal judges who apply the Constitution as written, including two phenomenal Supreme Court justices, Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh. We are protecting pro-life students' right to free speech on college campuses. And if universities want federal taxpayer dollars, then they must uphold your First Amendment right."

He went on to rail against abortion, highlighting late-term abortions when the unborn can feel pain, and highlighted the fact that the Declaration of Independence guarantees the sanctity of the pro-life agenda: "It's the right to life," he affirmed to great applause.

Speaking of the sacrifices of mothers, child caregivers, and adoptive service providers, Trump said, "You make it your life's mission to help spread God's grace...we declare that mothers are heroes."
