The House of Representatives Judiciary Committee held the first congressional hearing to examine racial injustice and police brutality following George Floyd’s May 25 death after a Minneapolis policeman knelt on his neck for nearly nine minutes. The failure of the Minneapolis Mayor and Police Chief to respond effectively to his death prompted riots and destruction of the city center by angry mobs. The collapse of civic order in the Twin Cities lead to a coordinated wave of rioting and looting disguised as "protests" in U.S. cities and abroad.

“George wasn’t hurting anyone that day. He didn’t deserve to die over $20. I’m asking you, is that what a black man’s worth? $20? This is 2020. Enough is enough,” Floyd's brother said. “It is on you to make sure his death is not in vain.” By "you" Philonise Floyd means the US Congress must do something, like pass a law, to prevent "a modern-day lynching in broad daylight” for buying cigarettes with a counterfeit $20. “His life mattered. All our lives matter. Black lives matter,” he added, wiping away tears.

A dirty cop named Derek Chauvin was fired and charged with second- and third-degree murder and manslaughter for the act of kneeling on George Floyd's neck and killing him. The career criminal, porn star, rap singer and, now, martyr had worked with Chauvin as security personnel at the same nightclub for many years. Philonise Floyd said Chauvin knew his brother and killed him with premeditation “just because he didn’t like him,” adding that “it has to have something to do with racism.”

Why this particular homicide had "something to do with racism" has never been fully fleshed out by anyone including Philonise Floyd. The hapless Progressive Mayor of Minneapolis, Jacob Fray, has not explained the racial motivation for Chauvin's actions nor has the African-American Chief of the Minneapolis Police Department Medaria Arradondo. Before taking the top cop job at Mayor Fray's request Arrandondo was the head of the Internal Affairs Unit responsible for investigation of allegations of officer misconduct. Derek Chauvin racked up 18 complaints in 19 years working on the Minneapolis Police Force so Chief Arradondo certainly knows all about the dirty cop but he's keeping quiet.

The spectacle of George Floyd's funeral procession across 3 states in a gold coffin with processions and wakes and eulogies by Rev. Al Sharpton and presidential candidate Joe Biden is surly one of the most perverse lamentations in American history. Someday, in the distant future, a brave and inquisitive soul will examine the circumstances surrounding Floyd's inexplicable demise at the knee of a known assailant, dirty cop who committed his crime in broad daylight while being theatrically filmed for 9 minutes. That person will not be satisfied with Philonise Floyd's speculation or the inarticulate self-flagellation of the Minnesota Democrat Party leadership (including the Mayor). The inexplicable passivity of a police department in confronting violent rioting and looting of the community Chief Arradondo swore and oath to protect and defend.

On Wednesday the Congress was split along partisan lines echoing tensions in the country between those who want dramatic changes in urban policing and those who defend the hard work of law enforcement while criticizing the aberrations of a cop like Chauvin. The insanity is that those who advocate deep structural change to the police are the same people who have been running large urban cities for the past 50 years. Everything that happens in Minneapolis, MN is the result of left-wing liberal Democrat policy proscriptions and that includes how the police dept. is run.

“The vast, vast majority of law enforcement officers are responsible, hard-working, heroic first responders,” added Representative Jim Jordan, the committee’s top Republican. That statement is undoubtably true and can be proven using statistics and logic but because Jordan represents a gerrymandered Ohio district with almost no urban constituents he misses a very important fact that is the root cause of this crisis. Democrat policies don't work and urban police forces employ a small number of "bad apples" on purpose to do the dirty work. Police Chief Arradondo kept Derek Chauvin on the force because city leaders need enforcers to do things a "responsible, hard-working, heroic" cop will not do.

Something happened in Minneapolis on May 25 and almost three weeks later there is still no motive or reason for the horrible actions of 4 cops, a drug addled counterfeiter and a large group of onlookers. The crime, professional recording, social media viral marketing, feckless response from the Mayor and Police Chief all suggest a nefarious purpose behind George Floyd's death but no one knows what it is. The response to this mystery has been riots and looting in cities throughout America, the demand to "defund the police", the destruction of Confederate monuments, the canceling of the TV show "COPS" after 30 years on the air and politicians, cops and celebs mimicking "the Chauvin kneel" in demented gesture of solidarity.

Did George Floyd know who was on the $20 counterfeit bill that got him killed?

Blaming George Floyd's death on the legacy of slavery in the colonial New World starting in 1619 or the establishment of the peculiar institution in the US Constitution in 1789 or the bloody conflagration that tore the nation in two in 1860 is a stretch. The Government and social order that dominates modern urban America was established in the 1932 New Deal and codified in the Great Society reforms of the 1960's. Democrats and the #FakeNews are trying their hardest to blame Republicans and President Trump for police brutality of African-American criminals but this system of human abuse was designed and built by the Left.

I WONDER WHY THERE HAVE BEEN NO HEARINGS ON THE MASSIVE DEATH IN CHICAGO EVERY WEEK !! 18 GUNNED DOWN IN ONE DAY 19 GUNNED DOWN ON MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND 82 WOUNDED YET NOT A PEEP FROM THE SO CALLED BLACK COMMUNITY OR LEADERS OR CONGRESS. SAME GOE FOR BALTIMORE, PHILADELPHIA, DETROIT, LA AND OTHER DEMOCRAT CONTROLLED CITIES. WHY IS IT THAT THIS IS NEVER SCREAMED AND RIOTED OVER ????

    Francisco Machado

The daily carnage in Democrat run cities doesn't trigger demonstrations or riots because it's business as usual for them. The Floyd incident, however, was in marked contrast to usual police procedure. Murder in those cities is part of the daily social attrition. Murder by police is not. Perhaps a more pertinent question is why no demonstrations when officer Mohamed Noor, with no significant justification, shot and killed Justine Damond, a lady in her pajamas talking to his partner.
