Republican lawmakers sounded the alarm on Friday due to new information that Mueller’s team wiped their phone following the conclusion of his investigation into whether President Trump colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election. The Department of Justice's released records show that several dozens of phones used by Mueller’s team members had been wiped of information due to forgotten passcodes, destroyed screens, intentional deletion, or because the individual lost the phone before the Inspector General could review the phone for their probe of the investigation. This new information comes after the conservative group Judicial Watch sued the Department of Justice.

Senator Chuck Grassley immediately wrote a letter to AG Bill Barr and FBI Director Christopher Wray to request information of how the DOJ and FBI are working to get the lost information. The senator wrote, “It appears that Special Counsel Mueller’s team may have deleted federal records that could be key to better understanding their decision-making process as they pursued their investigation and wrote their report. Indeed, many officials apparently deleted the records after the DOJ Inspector General began his inquiry into how the Department mishandled Crossfire Hurricane.” Grassley wants to know if there was a widespread, intentional effort to hide information.

In a text message with Fox News, Senator Johnson also expressed his outrage over this new information. He wrote, “I’m not a lawyer, but I am aware of the concept of anticipatory obstruction of justice.”

House Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Devin Nunes wants answers as well. He told Fox News, “It’s an amazing coincidence that all these professional investigators kept accidentally wiping their phones. You’d think these people could come up with a more believable excuse for hiding evidence.”

The most interesting thing would be Barr’s reaction. Well, in any case his silence is more than eloquent…
