The Department of Justice informed former Donald Trump’s legal team on Monday that when the Mar-A-Lago raid occurred one week ago that federal agents seized the former president’s passports and other privileged documents.
Federal officials informed the Trump lawyers that the FBI may have obtained materials covered by various privileges, and they will identify and will be returning in the next two weeks.
DOJ has now decided to create a process after examining the materials covering executive privilege and attorney client privilege, which confirms unequivocally that the government over-reach has been substantiated by the very order signed by Florida Magistrate Bruce Reinhart, who six weeks earlier recused himself from an earlier Trump lawsuit.
Reinhard has also publicly castigated former President Trump when he was in the White House.
Reinhart served as a prosecutor in Palm Beach until he abruptly retired and became the defense attorney for some of the co-conspirators in the initial Jeffrey Epstein case.
One former prosecutor told CDM.Press, who wishes to remain anonymous that Trump’s attorney should have immediately moved last week to have Reinhard removed from the case and challenged his order approving the raid.
This DOJ admission came about as Trump’s lawyers were discussing going to court to demand a special legal officer be designated to review Trump evidence that was seized that was outside the scope of the warrant.
